Dennis and I have loved our Christmas' in Swaziland. We truly miss our family but love the simpleness of how they spend the day that we celebrate the birth of our Savior. They do not have the Christmas trees, the lights, the presents, the hustle and bustle and chaos that seems to surround us in America. Christmas day is spent surrounded with family and feasting on food they normally do not have. The Swazi's embraced us as family and included us in their celebration. Thank you for reminding us of how really simple the first Christmas was. Let's remember on this special day to "be still and listen to the angels sing within our hearts".
It is tradition in our home to have sweet rolls and orange juice Christmas morning. So, of course, we kept that Christmas tradition alive and invited the elders over to join us. They brought with them their Christmas spirit.
You can't have Christmas without fudge
We went and added Christmas cheer to our Lobamba boys and gave them our special ties.
We love these boys
Christmas is family...so that included Patricia and her children
The Silavwe's were next on our visits...such an amazing couple.
The Ntshalintshali family included us in their family Christmas celebration
Great food and joyous fun...
We ended the day with visits with Faith Simelane and Futhi and Xolani and then home to talk to our children - the best part of our day. How I love our children and grandchildren. After, spent some time shedding tears. As much as I love our mission and people here, my family is fore most in our thoughts and prayers and miss them kakhulu.
Christmas 2011
MERRY CHRISTMAS
