Johannesburg and Pretoria have turned into a city of purple. We loved these trees when we were in Swaziland but nothing compares to the beauty of the Jacaranda trees here in Johannesburg and Pretoria. It is breath-taking. The Jacarandas are a majestic presence everywhere you look. They line the avenues and their canopies arch overhead and meet in the middle of the road, high up in the air. Not only does it form a spectacular canopy, but when the blossoms drop, it creates a purple carpet below. Wish my eyes were a photographic lens that could project panoramically exactly what I see. I do believe that Jacaranda trees will be found in heaven!
