THE KINGDOM 15 - 17 July 2016

Everyone in the office knows of our love for Swaziland and they want to experience the Kingdom through our eyes. So, of course, we love to accommodate their desires.. We are willing to "sacrifice" our time to show them the KINGDOM. So the weekend of the 16th we headed for Swaziland with Janet and Vernon Jubber.  Our weekend is as follows:
Dinner at Mountain Inn in Mbabane with Janet and Vernon
Ngwenya Glass Factory

So many options to purchase.....quite a dilemna
Then off to the Lobamba Care Point where we met up with our dear friend, Nonitu. We brought along some food with us and a soccer ball.
I love these kids....there are 123 precious children of God that call this place home.
The cooks....all the adults that work here are volunteers.  The only payment they get is the love of the children.
Lunch time......pap on the menu

Dennis and the kids giving the "I LOVE YOU" sign

Finger lickin' good

Janet with the kids
The apples that we brought

Apples and of course, SUCKERS
Saying good-bye to Nonitu.....I never know if this will be the last time....I know that we knew each other in heaven.  She is a kindred spirit.
Swazi Candles was our next stop.  This is the man that carved our giraffe and the Jubbers bought one from them also.  He carves and his wife paints...

HOUSE ON FIRE....this is where they hold BUSHFIRE....the second largest music festival in the world held in May every year.  The Jubbers loved the total uniqueness of it.

 House on Fire

They even had what we thought was a tree house.....so fun
Sunset at House on Fire
Went to Lobamba to see Sifiso, his mom and Sphiwe
It was Sibusiso's birthday so we took him to Summerfield for dinner
Lalalela was our waitress....so good to see her

I brought a cake and we sang to him.  I love that smile!
Bird of Paradise
We took a ride up the mountain in Mbabane.  They build their homes right next to huge boulders and on steep hills.

Sibebe rock - the second largest granite rock in the world.  Also known as the "Bald Rock".

Of course, we went to Manzini Market, introduced them to all our friends and enjoyed the game of "draft"
We drove out of Manzini into the Ezulwini valley to Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary which is saving 22 species from extinction.  From here you can hike Execution Rock - the mountain that we enjoyed looking at every day that we were in Swaziland.
This was a group of children that were coming to Mlilwane to celebrate a birthday.....
Of course, they needed suckers.
Execution Rock - when we see this mountain, we know that we were home.
Termite hill
Crocodile - when a crocodile gets too warm, the only way it can cool off is get in the shade, get in the water or sit quietly with its mouth open.

Water Buck

Elder Jubber opening the gate to the roan antelope sanctuary area.
Roan antelope - they have a whole area with these animals trying to save them from extinction

Dinner with Elder and Sister Martin and the Jubbers
Sunday, we woke up to go to church and I guess we both got the memo of what we should wear.  I missed the pink jacket
Dennis with Lungelo Nyoni
It was Elizabeth "gogo" Shongwe's 86th birthday.  So we brought a cake and went to see her on our way home.  I love this woman.  She gave me and Sister Jubber one of her rugs that she makes with plastic bags.
HAPPY 86th BIRTHDAY GOGO
Handing out chocolate eggs on our way down the mountain

Amazing sunset as we headed for Johannesburg leaving the KINGDOM

  1. I hope you get to go there a lot more before you leave. It would be nice if I could experience Swaziland. I bet they all love when you come to visit.
